Shopping for cake decorating supplies can be a little daunting for the beginner cake decorator. There are so many different tools available and it is really hard to know what to get. I advise you make a list before you start so you don’t over purchase while shopping. If you decide to get your cake decorating supplies online, then you need to do some research.

- A good cake pan
- Turntable
- General kitchen utensils such as metal spatula, serrated edged knife, rubber spatula and measuring cups and spoons
- to put the cake on when icing
- Pastry Bag and a variety of different decorating tips for the bag
- Rolling Pin and smoother if you are decorating with fondant
- Food colouring for your icing
- and a variety of cutters to help you decorate if you are using sugarpaste
The above list is only small, but should get you started with your shopping for cake decorating supplies.
The most important thing is, don’t get caught up in the tools for cake decorating as you may be able to improvise with the kitchen utensils you already have without spending a huge amount of money.
